Mindfulness

Mind Full, Or Mindful?


Mindfulness is a non-religious based meditation practice that is defined as being aware of the present moment. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we're better able to manage them. Our attention is focused on by sound, taste, an object or more commonly the breath. Mindfulness is now being used in a wide variety of settings, including the NHS, and can be a great coping strategy when dealing with everyday challenges , improve mental health & wellbeing and can assist in managing pain relief. Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention, concentration and improve relationships. It's proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and managing chronic pain.


Mindfulness is a free course for people throughout Fife. You can try either a short "Taster Session" or book yourself onto the 12 hour course.

There is no special Equipment required for you to take part, and you can sit in a comfortable chair.


Mindfulness consists of:


  • Introduction to Mindfulness.


  • A first taste of mindfulness - The Raisin Experience.


  • Mindful Movement - Qi Jong.


  • Sitting Meditation.


  • Body Scan.
